Our coffee chaff solution.

At Bruno Rossi we have a large amount of chaff, a by-product of our quality coffee roasting process.  Chaff is the outer layer or skin of the coffee bean; it falls of during the roasting process and is light and fluffy.  Post roasting, the chaff is collected and processed through a chaff compactor, which essentially compacts the light & fully coffee skin into ‘pucks’, so it is easier to manage and transport. 

 

Our innovations manager heard about an amazing company, Ecostock that could help us with our chaff problem.  EcoStock are now collecting all the chaff pucks from our roastery and will use the chaff as one of the ingredients, along with other food waste, to create high value stock feed for dairy farmers. This new partnership with EcoStock ensures our coffee chaff is repurposed and no longer ends up in landfill!
